My good friend Ralph Wallis has written, "Everyone has a story to tell, some extremely interesting and others just interesting, but one thing for sure, no two are exactly alike." "428 West Center Street" is my story of growing up in a small rural community in Illinois during the 1950s and 1960s. Histories of family, community, and schools are included as are details of my interests in hunting and fishing, medical situations, and jobs held while growing up. This is a book describing times past when gas was 25 cents a gallon and youngsters of all ages looked forward to their first black and white television set.

This book is an edited compilation of my military trilogy as described on the next page of this site. Each of those individual books memorialized my experiences in the three major phases of my military adventures: basic training, service in Europe, and service in Vietnam. While the original three books were produced in reverse order, this volume puts events in the order in which they occurred. Included in this work are photos and images of original documents not included in the individual books.
For those readers who have not read any of the military material, this would be the better buy. Those who have one or two of the original works would be better served by ordering the individual volumes.
